Ring Sizing Information
(United States and Canada):

There are two types of sizing systems in North America; Standard Fit and Comfort Fit.  Standard fit rings and wedding bands are the most common types.  Comfort Fit is newer and not as well known as Standard Fit.  Both types of fit are explained below.

Standard Fit:
This type of fitting is defined as a ring that is flat across the interior of the ring (where the ring touches the ring finger).  This is easiest to illustrate by comparing the interior of the ring to the interior of a pipe, it is smooth and unchanging in size from edge to edge.  This type of fit is most commonly used in precious metal rings such as platinum, palladium, yellow gold, and white gold.  Standard Fit is popular as it allows for the rings to be re-sized with less cost to the consumer.  Though it is slightly less comfortable to wear when compared to Comfort Fit, Standard Fit is definitely not “uncomfortable”.  Standard Fit has been used in the jewelry industry for centuries and is easy to get used to.  When you receive your ring, wear it around for a little bit and we are sure you will see that getting accustomed to wearing a ring usually takes a little more time than getting accustomed to the type of fitting itself.
Determining Standard Fit Size:
The most accurate methods of determining Standard Fit size involve using a local jeweler’s sizing tools to measure either your finger or a current Standard Fit ring that you are wearing.  The rings-on-a-keychain type sizer is the most common sizing tool used, and this will provide an accurate measurement for any of our Standard Fit rings.  You are also more than welcome to request our FREE ring sizer, which is designed to determine Standard Fit.

Comfort Fit:
This type of fitting is defined as a ring that is domed in the interior (where the ring touches the ring finger), instead of flat, like Standard Fit.  The center of the interior is raised higher than the edges of the interior of the ring.  This type of fit is most commonly used in rings that are difficult to re-size, such as tungsten and titanium, as Comfort Fit makes sizing the ring more difficult anyways.  This is why tungsten and titanium rings commonly have lifetime replacement programs for sizing, similar to Larson Jewelers’ industry leading lifetime sizing warranty for tungsten wedding bands.  The advantages of Comfort Fit are the ring slides over the knuckle a little easier and the ring displaces less skin when resting on the base of the finger.
Determining Comfort Fit Size:
The most accurate method of determining Comfort Fit size is to first determine your Standard Fit size at a local jeweler, and then order a half size smaller.  For example, if you are measured for a Standard Fit size 9.0 at a local jeweler, you should order a Comfort Fit size 8.5.  This is simply a recommended sizing conversion, as many local jewelers are not currently equipped with Comfort Fit ring sizing tools.  You can also request our FREE ring sizer and order a half size smaller for your Comfort Fit ring.

International Sizing:
If you do not have North American sizing tools available, you can you use your local sizing system to determine your size.   Afterwards you can contact us, and we will convert your ring size for you.  In preparation for sending your information to us, please be sure to note which country’s sizing system was used, which size fit you the best, a description of how the next size smaller felt and a description of how the next size larger felt.  When we offer a sizing conversion via phone, email, or instant message, we will offer your conversion for both Standard Fit and Comfort Fit sizes.  We can even offer both conversions simply based upon a ring diameter measurement if provided.
